How Pina changed Theatre & Dance

Dance fans will be familiar with the phrase “I am not interested in how people move, but in what moves them” attributed to the late Pina Bausch. Her approach to choreography was new and rare – she didn’t dictate the steps, she asked the dancers to create by looking within. Alain Platel, acclaimed director of company les ballets C de la B, is just one of the many inspired by her work.
Enjoy this little insight from Wendy Martin (Curator of Spring Dance) on Pina, her work, her legacy and how les ballets C de la B created a piece in her honour.
P.s. With the festival starting today, if you haven’t purchased tickets already a hot-tip from the Spring Dance team is don’t miss this show!
You can see Alain Platel’s 9 dancers live in action in Out of Context-for Pina, 30 Aug-1 Sept.
